Welcome to the Broadway Parish Council Website
Broadway is a village and civil parish in Somerset. Situated 3 miles west of Ilminster and 5 miles north of Chard. The parish has a population of 829. The parish includes the nearby hamlet of Hare. The village is mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086. The Church of St Aldhelm and St Eadburgha dates from the 13th century and is one of ten listed buildings in the village. The other listed buildings found on Broadway Road include Almshouses, a Congregational Chapel or Meeting House, a number of Medieval Farms and Manor Houses.
The Parish Council was formed in 1894. Made up of local people,the council is responsible for the newly redeveloped children’s play park, for representing the interests of the village in its relationship with Somerset Council and other statutory bodies and for the upkeep of public spaces in the village. The village is in Neroche electoral ward, in the County constituency of Yeovil, represented in the House of Commons.
